Looking at the FIN-FSA: lectures at the Bank of Finland Museum 

This spring, FIN-FSA will hold present two of the lectures in the Studia Monetaria series, given at the Bank of Finland Museum. The lectures will be in Finnish. On Tuesday 14 February, Jukka Vesala, Deputy Director General, will speak on the subject of "The first year of the new EU financial supervisory authorities amid the debt crisis". Read more
 

FIN-FSA seminar considered strategic issues related to EU regulation and supervision 

The main themes were priorities for EU supervisory authorities’ work, key areas of EU regulation in different sectors, impact of regulation on the development of the financial sector and the macroeconomy, challenges for monitoring risks and capital adequacy in the banking and insurance sector, and supervision of securities markets and the provision of savings products. EBA confirmed calculation of large banks’ capital needs 

EBA has updated its preliminary assessment of 71 large European banks’ capital needs. According to the confirmed calculation, banks’ additional capital needs amount to EUR 114,7 billion. In the calculation, banks’ investments in European sovereign debt instruments are marked to market and banks are expected to have a Core Tier 1 capital ratio of 9%. Finnish banks need not strengthen their capital positions.
